Pyramid Scheme Drops Its Most Ambitious Summer Lineup Yet

Pyramid Scheme has posted its summer calendar and it's dense: 48 shows across three months, ranging from touring indie acts to deep-cut jazz nights to a new hometown showcase series the venue is calling GR Homegrown.

The headliners: Chicago garage-pop duo Dehd plays June 21 (already sold out), Brooklyn's Wet Leg returns for a second GR date on July 12, and Afrobeat collective Antibalas closes out August on the 29th. Detroit hip-hop duo Passalacqua books a three-night residency July 18–20 that will be recorded for a live album.

GR Homegrown runs every Sunday in July — a free early show from 6–9 p.m. spotlighting local and regional acts. The first four Sundays feature The Crane Wives, Michigander, Heather Sheridan, and Kalamazoo's Wolf Den. Pyramid co-owner Liz Yeager said the series was a direct response to feedback that the venue had become too focused on touring bookings at the expense of the local scene.

Tickets for all paid shows go on sale Friday at noon through the venue's website. Pyramid Scheme's policy of $5 student admission applies to all shows with advance tickets over $15.
